At Peace

Our complete trust and hope should be focused on Him alone.

My immediate and extended family spends a restful vacation each year at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. We have been renting a house there since I was young.

It is a very peaceful place with a cross on top of the hill that lights up at night by the lake. Residents and visitors love to spend time at the popular conference and retreat center.

My youth group went to several camps at Lake Junaluska when I was in high school. I have made many fond memories here!

The highlight of my vacation is photographing the abundance of wildlife. Where there is water–typically there will be birds!

A scenic walking trail meanders several miles around the lake. Over the years, I have found where the swans love to rest on the bank of the lake.

I started photographing the swans from a distance, but as they got accustomed to my presence, I inched closer and closer. This swan was so at peace, he decided to take a nap as I was sitting only seven feet away.

Hopefully, in our lives, we are so at peace with the Lord that we are not bothered or flustered with the things that are around us. Our complete trust and hope should be focused on Him alone.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all. (2 Thessalonians 3:16, ESV)
