An Inspiration Prescription for a Stressful Day

A stunning video of Psalm 53 being sung in Jesus’ tongue, Aramaic. Just the pause you may need in the middle of a busy, stressful day.

Take a moment to watch this video of the Georgian Orthodox Church’s choir, who performed for Pope Francis on September 30 at the Church of St. Simon the Tanner in Tbilisi, Georgia. They’re singing Psalm 53 in Aramaic.

The first time I saw the video I was floored. As you may remember, I’m Christian Orthodox and my family speaks Aramaic. So I’m used to hearing the language and those beautiful hymns at church. Yet, it still gave me chills.

And made me realize how powerful it is to hear words and songs in Jesus’ native tongue. Even if, like me, you don’t understand all the words. Somehow it makes me feel more connected to Jesus, like I’m standing right next to Him on the shores of Galilee.

What do you think? How does listening to Psalm 53 in Aramaic make you feel?

(If you want to hear more Aramaic, here’s a video of my family and me singing the Lord’s Prayer in Jesus’ language. Please excuse my sister and me laughing–we had a case of the “church giggles”!)
