A 4th of July Prayer

I bet you have fun family Fourth of July traditions and hometown hoopla planned as well. But, in the midst of all the backyard barbecues, patriotic parades and fabulous fireworks, I hope you’ll take a minute to pray.

A Fourth of July prayer for our nation's leaders

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for all people-for kings and all those in authority. (I Timothy 2:1-2, NIV)

The Fourth of July is precious to me for several reasons. First, I get to celebrate a nation I love and honor. Second, I get to enjoy my hometown Fourth of July Parade that passes right by my house. Third, I get to spend quality time with my extended family, eating hot dogs, a fruit tray that resembles the American flag, homemade ice cream, and several other family favorites. And fourth, I get to sit next to my handsome hubby and watch the fantastic fireworks light up the night sky.

It’s pretty much a perfect day.

I bet you have fun family Fourth of July traditions and hometown hoopla planned as well. But, in the midst of all the backyard barbecues, patriotic parades and fabulous fireworks, I hope you’ll take a minute to pray for our country, for wisdom, safety and peace.
