When Ren was born, Catherine expected him to be mellow like his parents. But this colt was bold and assertive. His personality reminded her that transitions in life allow for a reawakening.

Catherine got her first horse when she was 11. These magnificent creatures have always been a part of her life.

Catherine got Ren’s mother, Rubi (seen here), specifically to experience raising a foal. Watching Rubi and her son bond in those fragile first hours of Ren’s life was special.

Trying to navigate middle age, Catherine felt lost. Rubi giving birth brought her focus back to the barn and back to the passion she’d held for horses.

Just days after he was born, Ren showed his joyful side and energetic attitude that declared, “Here I am, world!”

Ren nickers when he sees Catherine, as if to say, “Hello, I see you and I know you.”

Catherine, seen here with her Great Dane, Gus, is inspired by all of her animal companions to live life to the fullest.
