I had a case of the Mondays yesterday after a lovely, yet exhausting, weekend. I could barely keep my eyes open on my walk to work. As soon as I got to the office, I made myself a cup of tea, but it was no use. And then I came across a news story that added a much-needed pep to my step…

It’s a story about 3-year-old Keith Williams from Knoxville, Tennessee. A tiny tot who ended up saving 68-year-old Bob King’s life.

Bob was waiting for his wife in the parking lot of Vestal Baptist Church when he got locked inside his car, due to an auto-lock malfunction. He had no keys to turn on the air conditioner and the car temperature was over 120 degrees. A dangerous situation for anyone, but especially Bob. He has a number of health issues, including a history of strokes.

Three-year-old Keith Williams with the man he saved, 68-year-old Bob King.Suddenly, though, he saw Keith in the parking lot. Bob managed to get the boy’s attention and Keith swung into action. He tried to open the door, but couldn’t do it on his own.

So Keith rushed to find his pastor, Jack Greene. Pastor Greene was busy talking, but Keith wouldn’t take no for an answer. He tugged at the pastor’s hand, saying “hot, hot.” Keith then led him to the parking lot, where Pastor Greene was able to open the car door just in time.

As if that rescue wasn’t remarkable enough, there’s a reason Keith took the situation so seriously. You see, a few days earlier, his mother had given him a talk about hot car safety. A lesson that served him well that summer day.

“He is such a good kid,” Pastor Greene told ABC News. “He is an inspiration and blessing to us.”

An inspiration, indeed! What a great reminder that even the unlikeliest among us can be miracles to one another. God uses all of us–young and old–in his complex web of wonder. Not only 3-year-old Keith, but his mother and Pastor Greene too.

That’s kind of remarkable if you think about it. Imagine waking up every day knowing that God could use you to perform miracles? In fact, you may have assisted in tons of miracles that you don’t even know about.

Forget about tea or coffee. That simple fact is enough to wake me up, even when I have a case of the Mondays!
